a concert review

well, yesterday evening i went to Slim's in SF to see Epica, Symphony X, and Into Eternity. before i talk about the concert, shame and hilarity ensued when we got off the train in San Francisco, I realized that i had left the tickets back at my house...heh. anyways, that was the requisite comic-relief moment for the night.
on to the concert!
after a little bit of not-being-sure of where we were (it turned out that my direction sense had been right all along, just my ability to read street signs across the street in the dark was acting up), we made it to Slim's. the opening act was Into Eternity, and to be honest, their first couple of songs weren't very good. for their third or fourth song, i remember the singer said something along the lines of "some of you may have seen us live before, but now we're going to do something we've never done live before: we're going to take our pants off
just kidding"
it was pretty fucking hilarious, and the three of us were rather annoyed that it was a joke. 'twould have been pretty awesome, if slightly creepy.
after them was Epica, and even though their normal lead singer was out sick with a Staph infection, the sound system at Slim's couldn't handle the vocals of a surrogate singer. it wasn't actually the equipment, it was that the equalization was bad: too much bass by far. Epica was, as expected, epic. i'd have to say that their best three songs in this concert were Cry for the Moon, Sensorium, and Sancta Terra. however, all of the songs were really good.
however, before Symphony X came on, my two other friends complained of being tired, so i left with them, which wasn't really something that i wanted to do, because i kinda like Symphony X. i was outnumbered, so we left.
that's all for now, see you next time
